Relatives in Kentucky told me that Andrew suffered shell shock in World War I, but his WW I draft registration card indicates that he was already hospitalized before the war:

It states Andrew Quissenberry, age 24, permanent home address Morehead, Ky, born 19 Aug 1892 in Kentucky, no occupation, single, no prior military service, exemption from draft claimed due to insanity, affirmed by J. W. Goordon, superintendent, Eastern State Hospital.
