The birthdate on the certificate is probably incorrect since his parents were married in 1844, and he was listed as age 6 in the 1850 census.

Her death certificate records Martha J. Casity, age 78 years 12 months 28 days, born 12 May 1850 in Kentucky, died 10 Oct 1928 in Lenox, Morgan Co., Ky, widowed, father Jacob Hall, mother’s maiden name Nancy Brown, both born in Ky, cause of death consumption and old age, informant R. E. Casity, Redwine, Ky, burial in Wells graveyard.

Since she was listed as age 1 in the 1850 census, her birthdate was probably really in 1849.

1880 census of Morgan Co., Ky, North Fork precinct, enumerated 2 June, lists on p. 3 as family #25:
Cassity, John W., 35, farmer; Martha, 30, wife; Reuben E., 7, son; Alberty, 4, dau; Charles F., 2, son. All born Ky Ky Ky except Martha, b. Ky Va Ky, although other records list her father Jacob Hall as born in Kentucky.

John’s parents are four households above at #21, and his brother Reuben at #23.

1900 census of Morgan Co., Ky, district 6, enumerated 26 June, lists on p. 22B as family #353/357:
Cassity, John W., 56, b. Dec 1843, farmer; Martha, wife, 49, b. Feb 1851, married 30 years, mother of 6 children, 5 living; Louisa, dau, 16 (? see below), b. June 1884; Jesse, son, 13, b. Mar 1887; Lillie H., dau, 11, b. Sep 1888; Leander, grandson, 5, b. Mar 1895. All born Ky Ky Ky.

Leander should be listed with the surname Buskirk; he is the son of their oldest daughter Alberta.

Based on other records, the number of children for Martha should have been recorded as 7 total, 5 living. Alberta and Charles had recently died, Reuben Edgar and Nancy J. were living (Nancy was born after 1880 and married in Jan 1900, so she does not appear with them on any census, but they are listed as her parents on her death certificate), and Louisa, Jesse and Lillie are listed here.

Based on other records, it is also likely that Louisa and Jesse have been switched in the age order and birthdates. Louisa was listed as 21 in 1910, in 1920 as 32, and in the 1930 census as 41. (I do not have a death record for her.) Jesse was listed as 27 in 1910, 37 in 1920, born 28 June 1883 on his WWI draft card, and as born 1 June 1883 on his death certificate. (He was listed as 43 in 1930, though.) There is indication on this census image of an altered entry on the line for Louisa. It looks like son was overwritten with daughter, and 1887 overwritten with 1884 (or vice versa) and 12 or 11 overwritten with 16, or vice versa. So the enumerator may have originally written Jesse’s data next to Louisa’s name, and Louisa’s birthdate and age next to Jesse’s, and then corrected the gender, age and year of birth on Louisa’s line, but left the months alone, and not corrected the data on Jesse’s line.

1910 census of Morgan Co., Ky, Panther’s Branch precinct, enumerated 18 April, lists on p. 2A as family #19:
Cassity, William, 66, farmer, b. Ky Ky Ky; Martha, wife, 58, b. Ky Ky Va, first marriage for both, married 37 years, mother of 8 children, 6 living; Louisa, dau, 21, single, b. Ky Ky Ky; Buskirk, Leander, 15, grandson, b. Ky Va Ky.

1920 census of Morgan Co., Ky, Panther’s Branch precinct, enumerated 7 Jan, lists on p. 4A as family #64:
Cassity, William, 77, farmer; Martha, wife, 69. Both born Ky Ky Ky.

The preceding household is that of John L. Link with his fifth wife, their daughter Nancy, and the following household is their daughter Louisa with her husband Willie Johnson.
