Her death certificate (Vol. 7, #03013) states Mary Florence Riddle, age 55 years 1 day, born 12 Feb 1882 in Ky, died 13 Feb 1937 in Forge Hill precinct, Bath Co., married, wife of James Riddle, father William Purvis, mother’s maiden name Lucy Shrout, cause of death carcinoma of liver, informant Morton Riddle, Owingsville, Ky RR 3, burial in Old Virginia Cemetery.

Mary's gravestone says Born Feb 12, 1882 Died Feb 12, 1937.

It is very probable that she was really born in 1883. Her brother Henry’s birth date is reported in the 1900 census to be May 1881, and the spacing would be too tight for both those dates to be right. His can’t be May 1880 because he was not recorded in the 1880 census. Also, in the 1900 census, her own census record said that she was age 17, born Feb 1873. There is an error of a decade there, but if the age is correct, the date would be Feb 1883.

Riddle, James B., furniture dealer, 52, age at first marriage 26; Florence, wife, 40, age at first marriage 20; John, son, 13; Edgar, son, 25, age at first marriage 22; Grace, dau-in-law, 24, age at first marriage 21; Henry, grandson, 1 1/2. All born Ky/Ky/Ky.

Grace is the wife of Edgar Wayne Riddle. They were apparently separated, because he remarried to Sadie Sorrell before Grace died in 1937.
