1830 census of Shelby Co., Ky lists on p. 195, line 12:
Obannion Petitt, 2 m 15-19, 3 m 20-29, 1 f < 5, 1 f 20-29.
In the margin of the page was written "South side of Main Street in Shelbyville."
O’Bannon would have been 23. This seems to be an unusually large number of young men for one household, especially since O'Bannon's only known brother, Simon, would have been 37 and thus is not part of this household. Perhaps a boarding house?
1840 census of Franklin Co., Ky, lists on p. 328, line 15, in Frankfort:
O. B. Pettit, 1 m < 5, 2 m 5-10, 1 m 30-39, 1 f 10-14, 1 f 30-39
