Morgan Co. marriage records list the marriage of James W. Brown and Nancy Ann Lewis on 26 Oct 1871 by W. W. Cox at the home of David C. Lewis, witnesses E. P. Lewis and Moses Lewis.
I cannot find either Jim or Nancy in the Kentucky death records, despite the fact that they were living in Morgan Co. in 1930, and are buried there. Perhaps they spent the last years of their lives in another state with one of their children, and were returned home for burial. (Like my own grandmother, who died in Deming, NM, but whose funeral and burial were in Morehead.)
I cannot find either Jim or Nancy in the Kentucky death records, despite the fact that they were living in Morgan Co. in 1930, and are buried there. Brown, James W., 50, b. Oct 1848; Nancy A., wife, 51, b. Nov 1848, married 28 years, mother of 4 children, 3 living; Cordelia M., dau, 18, b. Sep 1881; Ezra W., nephew, 6, b. July 1893. All born Ky Ky Ky.
James’ parents are listed two households below, and with them is a Maggie Brown, 29, widowed, daughter-in-law, listed as the mother of 2 children, 2 living, but only one child is with her (Lizzie E. age 8). So Ezra is probably Maggie’s son.
