The Rowan County News of Nov. 17, 1930 reported “Roy Brown, 18, died Wednesday at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Willie Brown of Clearfield, of pneumonia following a bout of typhoid fever. He is survived by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Clarence, Downey, Idaho; Fredro, Mansfield, Oh; and Mrs. Myrtle Hayes and Mrs. Avonelle Rigsby of Clearfield.” (Although the obituary says 3 brothers, it only lists two. There is no missing brother; the “3” is the incorrect part, since all of Roy's other brothers had predeceased him.)
