In 1930 Mary Houston and her daughter Hattie Francis appear with W.W. and Annie’s son James M. Downing and his wife Hattie, described as sister and niece, which is in conflict with the fact that they are listed here with no relationship, and with the fact that there is no daughter Mary listed with the family of William and Anna in 1880. Mary Houston is really the sister of Hattie Pemberton who married James Franklin Downing’s son James Manoah Downing.
