Elbert Pettit, 80, of 57602 Woodrow St., died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Medco Center.
He was born Jan. 24, 1902 in Salt Lick, Ky. He married Gladys Mabie May 5, 1932. She died Sep. 17, 1968. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. James (Thelma) Becker, Vero Beach, Fla., Mrs. Norma Kiefer, Mrs. Merle (Betty Lou) Reese and Mrs. Daniel (Lillian) Nine, all of Elkhart, and Mrs. Carolyn Moore, Paris, Ky; a son, Elbert J., Rossville, Ga.,; 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Benjamin and Homer, both of Elkhart; three sisters, Mrs. Olin Swikert and Mrs. Lawrence Williams, both of California, and Mrs. Roy Hawkins, Elkhart.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the White Funeral Home where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Prairie Street Cemetery.
