I cannot find this family in the 1870 census. They were probably already married, since neither Franklin nor Mahala appears in that census with their parents, and their son Esta was listed as age 10 in 1880.
1880 census of Bath Co., Ky, White Sulphur precinct, enumerated 7 June, lists on p. 7 as family #59/62:
McClane, Franklin, 38, farmer; Mahaly, 33, wife; Esty, 10; Earl, 9/12, b. Sep, son. All born Ky Ky Ky.
