Census Notes for Wesley Ervin & Ida Belle (Family)
1900 census of Elliott Co., Ky, Sandy Hook precinct, enumerated 20 June, lists on p. 17B as family #266/270:
Cornett, Wesley, 37, b. Nov 1862, Ky Va Ky, farmer; Ida, wife, 27, b. May 1873, Ky Ky Ky, married 2 years, mother of 2 children, 2 living; Eunice, dau, 5, b. Sep 1894; Jessie L., dau, 1, b. May 1899. Both daughters born Ky Ky Ky.
The preceding household is that of Ida’s father and stepmother.
1910 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Hoggtown prec., E.D. 156, page 1B, taken 15 Apr, records as family #17 (between Hiram Cornett and Robert Parker):
Cornett, Wesley, 46, farmer; Ida, 36; married 11 years, second for him, first for her, Ida mother of 3 children, all living; step-daughter Eunice, 15; daughter Jesse, 10; daughter Ceata, 8. Eunice born in Nebraska, all others (including parents of Wesley and Ida) in Kentucky.
I'm not sure whether Eunice is a daughter of Wesley's by his first marriage, or an out-of-wedlock daughter of Ida's. Judging by the numbr of living children counts for Ida, most likely the latter. Also, the relationships are usually given with respect to the head of household, with a stepdaughter being a child of the wife by a previous relationship. For now, I am linking her in as a joint child, but she may need to be moved when I know which is the case. Certainly she was raised as a Cornett, though.
