Notes for James Goad
Listed in his grandfather John Goad’s will as “I lend to my Son, Abraham Goad, the use of my Cow known by the name of Star, with her Increase, till his Son James shall come to the age of twenty-one years, and then the property to vest in said James, but if said James should die without heir then the said Cow, with her Increase to be divided among the rest of my Son Abraham's Children.” (See the notes for John Goad Sr. for the full text of this will.)
Notes for Mary Collier
Lee County, Virginia Deed Book 1 pp.166-167, contains the following transfer from Aaron Collier to his daughter Mary:

Know all to whom these presents shall come. Greeting be that I Aaron Collier of Lee County and State of Virginia for and consideration of the sum of twenty five shillings the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge that I have given and bequeathed unto my daughter Mary the property as follows, to wit, One Bay Horse about 15 hands high, twelve years old. Eleven Head of Cattle, and one bed of furniture. Two rifle guns, eleven Head of Hogs, two pots and one Dutch Oven, Five Pewter basins, two dishes and twelve plates. I do utterly give and bequeath the within mentioned property unto her, her heirs and assigns forever from me my heirs administrators executors and assigns forever. To have and to hold and to hold the said property from all other bequests wills or legacies, or any who claim or demand, rights or title that ever may be legally or lawfully claimed by any other person or persons in Law or equity. Confirming and ratifying these presents to her forever and to no other person, wherefore I have hereunto set my hand, In witness and seal this 4th day of August in the year of our Lord 1800.
