1930 census of Boone Co., Ky, Florence precinct, enumerated 3 April, lists on p. 1B as family #14, on Union Road:
Pellit, James B., 34, age at first marriage 30, farmer; Emma M., 38, age at first marriage 34, public school teacher. Both born Ky Ky Ky.
The names clearly say Pellit and Emma, not Pettit and Eunie. This is probably a case of the census taker misreading his own rough notes.
1940 census of Boone Co., Ky, Florence ED 8-5, enumerated 15 April, lists on p. 9B as family #225:
Pettit, James B., 44, janitor at public school; Eunie, wife, 48, teacher at public school; Humphrey, Mary S., lodger, 40, widowed, teacher at public school. All born in Kentucky, James and Eunie living in same house in 1935, Mary in same place but not same house.
Pellit, James B., 34, age at first marriage 30, farmer; Emma M., 38, age at first marriage 34, public school teacher. Both born Ky Ky Ky.
