This couple is entered only to show the parents of Richard Bray who married Minnie Pearl Pettit. Although Richard’s death certificate had his mother’s name as unknown, the death certificates of their sons James (1878-1911) and Edwin Jr. (1883-1926) both listed their father’s name as Edwin Bray, and their mother’s maiden name as Fannie Bray, with James’ giving his mother’s birthplace as Shrop Shire, England. So Edwin and Fannie were presumably cousins.

1880 census of Campbell Co., Ky, enumerated 22 June, lists on p. 33 as family #253/256:
Bray, Edwin, 27, farmer, b. Ky England England; Fannie, 30, wife, b. England England England; John, 9, son; Alice, 4, dau; James, 2, son; Richard, 6/12, b. Nov (?). All children born Ky Ky England.

The month of birth for Richard looks like Nch, with a quite tall ascender on the h. I would have read it as March, except that is not consistent with an age of 6 months in June, nor with later records such as the 1900 census, which gave Richard’s birthdate as Nov 1879, or with his death certificate, which gave his birthdate as 7 Dec 1879.
