Kentucky death index lists Clifford Cassity, died 6 Jan 1992 in Rowan Co., residence same, age 93, born 27 Sep 1898, certificate volume 10, #04916.

There is a note filed with her marriage license which says “Mr. Clerk of Rowan County I authorize you to issue marriage license for me My name is Ruth Donathan age 21 I was Borned in Menifee County March 30 191 (sic) My father is Price Donathan he Died when I was two year of age I have been making my way ever since My mother Pearl Cockeran at this time Ruth Donathan”.

The Kentucky death index lists a Ruth Cassity who died 16 Feb 1975, age 72, in Rowan Co., residence same. She is also listed in the Social Security death index with the birthdate 30 Mar 1902, died Feb 1975, last residence Clearfield, Rowan Co., Ky. But the cemetery survey done by the Rowan Co. Historical Society says that the stone for the wife Ruth who is buried with Clifford Cassity has the dates 1902-1977. I could not find any Ruth Cassity who died in 1977 in the Kentucky death index or the SSDI. It might be that there is just a typo in the cemetery survey.

Rowan Co. marriage book 15, p. 46, records the marriage on 30 May 1922 of Clifford Cassity, 23, born Morgan Co., residence Rowan Co., son of Pete & Lula Cassity, to Ruth Donathan, 21, born Menifee Co., residence Rowan Co., dau of Price Donathan & Pearl Donathan Cochran, at Morehead by Thomas W. Rose, witnesses Steve Lemasters and “a man by the name of Manning”.
