The Kentucky birth index lists Stella Mathews, born 27 Dec 1915 in Breathitt Co. (a misindexing of Rowan Co.11), mother’s maiden name Sarah Fraley. It is a delayed certificate, filed in 1943. The birth index also lists Opal Mathews, born 5 Jan 1916 in Breathitt Co., mother’s maiden name Sarah Fraley, and that one is not a delayed certificate. Since a mother cannot have two children born 8 days apart, the second certificate was probably filed either as a correction to the first, or because the original could not be located due to the name change.
