1930 census of Morgan Co., Ky, Lenox precinct, enumerated 3 April, lists on p. 1B as family #13:
McClain, Josh, 84, age at first marriage 24, b. Ky Ky Ky; Mary Jane, wife, 74, age at first marriage 18, b. Ky Va Ky.

Her name was spelled variously as Sytha, Scytha, Cytha, and Cyntha.

Her death certificate records Syth McClain, age 67 years 10 months 29 days, born 25 Dec 1848 in Morgan Co., Ky, died 11 Nov 1916 in West Liberty, Morgan Co., Ky, married, father Spencer Hill, mother’s maiden name Bessie Williams, cause of death insanity, informant James M. McClain, Lenox, Ky, burial in Honor graveyard. (Often times “insanity” in an old death certificate means what we would today call Alzheimer’s.)

Since she does not appear in the 1850 census, she most likely was really born in Dec 1850.

Other records (marriage, 1850 census, 1860 census) are consistent that the name of Spencer Hill’s wife was Cyntha Ann Williams, not Bessie Williams.

There were two Sytha Hills of nearly the same age in Morgan Co. The other one was the daughter of William Hill and Martha Williams.

Morgan Co. marriage records list marriage of Joshua McClain and Scytha Hill on 10 Jan 1869 at bride’s residence on Paint Creek by Saul B. Ramey, witnesses Thomas Brown & John Pelphrey.

McClain, Josh, 34, farmer; Cytha, 30, wife; Clearindia, 8, dau; James, 6, son; Marry, 3, dau; Bettie, 3, dau; Cyntha, 1, dau. All born Ky Ky Ky.

1900 census of Morgan Co., Ky, West Liberty precinct, enumerated 11 June, lists on p. 8A as family #145/147:
McClure, Joshua, 54, b. Dec 1845; Cyntha, wife, 50, b. Dec 1849; Beverly, son, 18, b. Feb 1882; Liddie, dau, 16, b. Jan 1884; Moore, James, servant, 22, b. Apr 1878; Leander, son, 12, b. May 1888. All born Ky Ky Ky.
