“MOREHEAD – Roy Anderson, 77, of Sherwood Forest, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, Kentucky, after a brief illness.
He was born July 9, 1932, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to Willie and Carrie Caudill Anderson.
Roy is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Sue Hall Anderson. He is also survived by two daughters, Marcia (Armando) Arrastia of Frankfort, Kentucky; Lora Anderson of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; and a son, Kevin (Julie) Anderson of Morehead, Kentucky.
He was the proud grandpa of Kristopher Litton, Rachel Arrastia, Erika Litton, Carrie Arrastia, Anna Arrastia, and Nick Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Delmar, Jesse, and Dallas Anderson. Surviving are brothers, Earl, Bill, Lloyd, and Claude Anderson of Morehead, and Clester Anderson of Anderson, Indiana; and sisters, Tina Ward of Wilmington, Delaware, and Nina Bowman of Morehead.
Roy was a very active member of Morehead First Church of God. He served two years in the U.S. Army; was a former Rowan County Deputy Sheriff; former member of the Morehead Volunteer Fire Department; past president of Morehead Lions Club; and an eight-year member of Morehead City Council. Formerly, he was manager of Jerry’s Restaurant; manager/co-owner of the Dairy Cheer; and retired from Food Lion in Morehead. He was a great cook and loved being outdoors, gardening and raising flowers.
Visitation will be Friday, April 9, 2010, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and anytime after 9 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010, at Morehead First Church of God, 576 Sunset Drive. A funeral celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the church with Pastor Allan Hutchinson and the Rev. Rodney Williams officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites conducted by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers will be Allen Bradley, Jimmie Walton, David Wells, Anthony Anderson, Paul Anderson, Joe Anderson, and Dwayne Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be men of the church.”
