Notes for Elizabeth McClain
Charles and Comfort definitely had a daughter named Elizabeth, recorded with them as age 21 in the 1850 census. What is tentative is whether the Elizabeth McClain recorded in the 1860 census with these children is the same person. It may be that she is the widow of a brother of the John McClain with whom she is living.

Elizabeth McClain, 33; Thomas, 10; Daniel, 8; John, 4; Judy, 8/12.
This family group represents the one headed by Elizabeth. According to the birth record for Judy, McClain is her maiden name. The only single Elizabeth McClain of approximately the right age in the 1850 census of Morgan, Bath or Fleming counties is the one who was the daughter of Charles McClain and Comfort Sexton, although she was recorded as only 21 in 1850.
