His marriage license indicates that he was born in Morgan Co., Ky, but since the family was resident in Wolfe Co. in the 1880 census, just over the border from Morgan Co., and they moved to Rowan Co. about 1883, it is probable that as an adult he was not aware that his parents had lived briefly in Wolfe Co. around 1880 to 1882.
