Dates and locations of birth and death are from her obituary in the Rowan County News of 16 Mar 1939. It does not mention her parents or maiden name, though.

Her gravestone and obituary give her birth date as 17 Aug 1861, but she was recorded as age 10 months in the 1860 census, so she must have been born in 1859.
