His death certificate records Riley Alvin Johnson, age 59 years 0 months 16 days, born 16 April 1892 in Elliott Co., died 2 May 1951 in Sharkey, Rowan Co., Ky, married, occupation minister, father Moses Johnson, mother’s maiden name Mary Brown, informant Mrs. Virgie Sue Johnson, cause of death bronchial pneumonia, burial in Caudill Cemetery, Sharkey, Ky.
His gravestone inscription spells his name as Rev. Rila A. Johnson.

Rowan Co. birth records, on LDS microfilm #216839, list V. S. Caudill, female, born 18 July 1893, father B. F. Caudill, mother’s maiden name Lucinda Caudill, both parents born in Rowan Co.
The SSDI lists Vergie Johnson, born 18 July 1893, died 15 Jan 1970, last residence Morehead, Rowan Co., Ky, SSN issued in Kentucky in 1965.
The Kentucky death index lists Virgie S. Johnson, age 76, died 16 Dec 1969 in Rowan Co.
I don’t think these are two different Virgie S. Johnsons. Possibly her death was reported one month wrong to the Social Security agency.
Strangely, her gravestone inscription says Vergie S. Johnson, July 18, 1893 - 1963. There is no corresponding 1963 death in the Kentucky death index. The stone is a double one with Riley; probably her name and birthdate were inscribed when he died in 1951 and her death date entered later, but not at the time of her death.
