Notes for Millard Fillmore Conn
I cannot find a living record for Millard after the 1910 census, such as a draft registration or the 1920 census. He is probably the following Millard Conn whose death certificate reports:
Millard Conn, age 17, birthdate unknown, born in Fitch, Ky, parents names and birthplaces not given, died 12 Feb 1912 at Greendale School of Reform, Greendale, Fayette Co., Ky, cause of death measles followed by nephritis & septicemia, informant M. M. Mallory, Greendale, Ky, burial in Lexington Cemetery.
Fitch is in Carter Co., Ky. The reported age would be quite low, since if the 1900 and 1910 censuses were correct, Lewis’s son Millard would have been almost 21 in Feb 1912. But there is no better match I can find for a Millard Conn born 1892 to 1895 in the area who was not living after 1912 either. (There was a Millard Fillmore Conn born 17 Nov 1891 in Floyd Co. Ky, son of John Conn, but he moved to West Virginia, where he filed a draft registration card in 1918 and was listed in the 1920 census. Interestingly, that Millard’s draft registration card gave his birthdate as 17 Nov 1894, which does not match his age in any of the censuses.)
If Millard got in trouble with the law sometime in 1910 or 1911, he may have reported his age as younger than it really was so that he would not be tried as an adult.
Also, the ages and birthdates in the 1900 census are very unreliable, both generally for Rowan Co.3, and specifically for this family (see notes for Pearl and Willie.) So Lewis’s son Millard may have been born later than 1891, although it could be no later than the death of his mother in 1893.

In April 1910 he was listed in Lewis Co., Ky, as age 19, lodger, with the family of Daniel B. Porter, age 76, and wife Tabitha, who were from Elliott Co.
