Her obituary reported “Edna Marie Lewis, 77, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009, at her home in Yorktown, IN. She was born August 21, 1932, in Morehead, Kentucky, the daughter of Ottis L. and Vada (Moore) DeHart. She grew up in Kentucky and moved to the Muncie area in the early 1950’s.
She and her husband owned and operated Lewis’ Woodcrafts, and she was at one time employed at Muncie Novelty. Edna was well loved for her incredible connection to children and animals and all living things especially her flower gardens. She cared for and touched deeply the lives of many friends and family.
Surviving are her son, Elden Lewis, (wife, Mary), Greenfield, IN; her daughter, Debra Yee, (husband, Leo), Bargersville, IN; two grandchildren, Amy Lewis and Kyle Lewis, both of Indianapolis, IN; three brothers, James “Arley” DeHart, (wife, Linda), Duarte, California, Ival DeHart, (wife, JoAnn), Hurst, Texas, and Larry DeHart, (wife, Delores), Muncie, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph K. Lewis, who died in 2001; her daughter, McCleda Lewis-Munoz, who died in 2005; her grandson, Todd Lewis, who died in 2006; two brothers, Cletis and Ray DeHart; and two sisters, May DeHart and Reba (DeHart) Kidd.”
