Do not confuse him with the James Pelfrey born ca 1812 of Carter Co., who married Jemima Davis. They are both listed separately in the censuses.
He spelled his surname as Pelphrey, but for ease of reference I am recording the family under Pelfrey, because that is how nearly all descendants spell their name.
