Her death certificate records Emma D. McClain, age 67 years 11 months 11 days, born 16 March 1877 in Elamaton, Ky, died 27 Feb 1945 in West Liberty, Morgan Co., Ky, widow of Alfred McClain, father Shilo Day, mother’s maiden name Ann Williams Day, both born in Elamaton, Ky, cause of death congestive heart failure due to chronic hypertensive heart disease, informant Vic McClain, West Liberty, Ky, burial in McClain Cemetery.

She was listed as age 2 in the 1880 census (taken in June), and as age 22 born Mar 1878 in the 1900 census, so the birthdate listed in the death certificate is probably off by one year. Other records have her middle initial as C., so the D on the death record is probably for Day.

Morgan Co. marriage records list the marriage on 27 Jan 1892 of Alfred McClain and Emma Day, by B. M. Carr at Shilo C. Day’s, witnesses Thornton McClain and A. S. Day.

The family is rather badly recorded in the 1900 census, with the wrong surname, and with the names of Alfred’s wife and oldest daughter switched:

The ages for Chester, Florence and Ida are switched from the 1900 census, but I do not know which one is correct.
