Rowan Co. marriage book 2, p. 396, records bond issued 22 Dec 1897 for John B. Lewis and Pearlie Jane Bailey, surety by Samuel Bailey. The marriage is also recorded in register book A, as having taken place on 24 Dec 1897.

This enumerator consistently spelled Lewis as Louis. The four preceding families are headed by John’s brothers Samuel, Enoch, James and Jesse, and the two following families are headed by his parents and his brother Thomas.

The daughter Estle should be a son.
