Her obituary in the Rowan County News of May 22, 1947 reported “Gracie Cox Pelfrey, 42, daughter of U. S. and Pearlie Cox, of Elliottville, died on Wednesday of last week at an Ashland hospital.
On May 2, 1925 she married Asbury Pelfrey and to this union nine children were born of which the following seven survive: Aaron Pelfrey of Mansfield, Ohio; Christine, Bernice, Bittie, Bobbie and Jacqueline. [Note: this is only six, but it is all that were listed] She also leaves, besides her parents, a brother, Everett Cox of Elliottville, and two sisters, Mrs. Ora Click and Mrs. Vernie Reynolds of Elliottville.
She had been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ since 1934. Funeral services were conducted at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at the residence by Brother G. W. Farley. Burial was in the home cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Anderson Funeral Home.”
