His obituary in the Morehead News says “Homer L. Adkins, 88, of Okeechobee, Fla., formerly of Morehead, died Sunday, Oct. 20 at the V. A. Hospital, West Palm Beach, Fla. He was born May 16, 1908 in Elliott County to the late Lanford and Maddie Adkins. He was a retired foreman with the Kentucky State Highway Department.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Roxie Mays Adkins and by his second wife, Edith Jones Adkins. Surviving are his wife, Ethel Mabry Adkins; one son, Wendel Adkins of Chicago, Ill., one daughter, Carol Winburn of Tucson, Ariz; and six grandchildren.”
