Her death certificate records Hazel Jones Reynolds, age 38 years 9 months 4 days, born 31 May 1908 in Rowan Co., Ky, died 4 April 1947 at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Fayette Co., Ky, residence Bluestone, Rowan Co., Ky, widow of Ivan Reynolds, father John W. Jones, mother’s maiden name Nettie Myers, both born in Ky, cause of death chronic nephritis with hypertension, informant John W. Jones, Bluestone, Ky.

Her obituary in the Rowan County News of Apr. 10, 1947 reported “Funeral services for Hazel Jones Reynolds, 38, daughter of J. W. Jones, Bluestone merchant and Postmaster and Mrs. Jones, were held at the home Monday. Burial was in the Brown cemetery.

Mrs. Reynolds died April 4. She was born at Bluestone May 31, 1908. On October 7, 1928 she married Ivan Reynolds and to this union there was born two surviving children, Ivan Jr. and Margaret Rose.

Mrs. Reynolds lived her entire life in Rowan County, and was widely known. During her eight weeks illness she was visited by hundreds of her neighbors and friends.

In addition to her children and parents she leaves three sisters and two brothers: Pearl and Ruby of New Castle, Ind.; Edith and Malcolm and Pete, all of Bluestone.

She was a member of the Christian Church of Farmers. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William Moore. Arrangements were by the Lane Funeral Home.”
