Rowan Co. birth records list a daughter Isabel born 4 Apr 1856 to Thomas Trumbo and Celia Christy, residence East Triplet. There is no birth recorded of a son in 1855 or 1856. But the 1860 census lists a son Henry E., age 4. One of the two records must be wrong. Perhaps it is a daughter Henrietta Isabell, and the census taker misheard Henrietta as “Henry Ed”. In the days when young boys wore dresses and chin-length hair, the gender of a young child wasn’t obvious. What I need to do is find this family in the 1870 census.
