Thomas Ramey, 38, farmery; Malinda, 28; Strother, 10; Julia, 9; Gilean, 6; Martha, 4; Jasper, 8/12. All born in Ky.
1860 census of Rowan Co., Ky, enumerated 11 June, lists as on p. 1 as household #4:
Ramey, Thomas, 48, farmer, cannot read or write; John, 17; Julian, 16; Gilian, 14; Martha, 12; Jasper, 10; Lizzy, 8; Malinda, 5. All born in Kentucky. (All the children except Jasper are listed as about 2 years younger than implied by the 1850 census.)
1870 census of Rowan Co., Ky, Pearce precinct, p. 127B, lists as family #86:
Ramey, Thomas, 57, farmer, married in Dec; Gilly, 22, married in Dec; Martha, 18; Jasper, 16; Malinda, 7. (The ages for the children are very off from what is implied by the 1860 and 1870 censuses, especially for Malinda, enough so that it is possibly not the same person. It is curious that Thomas had a daughter Gilian born about 1835 and married a wife Gilly of nearly the same age. If it hadn’t been for the “married in Dec” notation, I would have assumed that Gilly here was his daughter.)
