Morgan Co. birth records on LDS microfilm #216,835 list birth of Julian Downing on 22 May 1855, daughter of Wm Downing & Rosanna Walton.94

The 1855 death records on the same microfilm have a page in which about 3/4 inch is cut off the left column, causing most of the first names to be missing. Two lines on this page record the deaths of two children of William & Julian Downing, with the notation “twins” in the right margin. Both of them are recorded as male, which does not agree with the birth records. The second one shows an “n” at the end of the first name, but that doesn’t help since Julian and Newton both end in that letter. The first one is listed as age 5 days, died 27 May 1855, and the second one is listed as age 16 days, died 27 Jun 1855. Since they were born on 22 May 1855, the second entry is incorrect in either age or date of death; I suspect that it should really be 7 Jun 1855, which is 16 days after 22 May, and entering the “27” twice would be a natural error. Since I don’t know which twin died on which date, I have entered the date of death for both of them as “27 May or 7 Jun 1855.” Cause of death is recorded as "fitts".
