There was another Strother Pierce, nearly the same age, in Franklin Co., Ky with a wife named Nancy.
Notes for Winifred Jane Ferrand
Very probably a sister of Thomas J. Ferrand who married Martha J. Brown. Two of Martha’s sisters married brothers of Strother Pierce, and both Thomas and Winnie listed their birthplaces as Ky Va Md in the 1900 census, and they were listed on adjacent pages in the 1850 census, being the only Ferrands (or variant spelling) in Morgan County.
Census
In 1850 she was listed as Jane Ferand, age 15, with her future parents-in-law, Mordecai Pearce and his second wife, Anna Ferrand (b. ca 1792.) This is most likely due to some relationship with Anna, perhaps aunt and niece, which if so would make her a cousin to Strother.

The daughter listed as Mary age 20 in the 1875 census should be listed as about age 5, but is missing.
I cannot find this family in the 1870 census. Perhaps they were in the process of moving from Illinois to Kansas and were missed by the census takers in both states.
