Her death certificate records Nancy Ward, age 73, born 22 Feb 1857 in Ky, died 11 Jan 1929 in Ezel, Morgan Co, Ky, married, father Obadiah Sexton, mother’s maiden name Magdalene Davis, both born in Ky, cause of death pneumonia due to influenza, informant blank, burial in Pieratt Cemetery.

The age is off by several years; she was recorded as age 10 in the 1860 census (but not listed in the 1850 census), and as age 18 in the 1870 census. The 1900 census says Feb 1853, but that would conflict with the birthdate of her sister Mary, who died in 1854 at age 1. So she was probably really born in 1851 or 1852 at the latest.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 27 Jan 1881 of William Ward and Nancy Sexton, by John F. Wilson, witnesses Frank Maxey and William Kirk.
