He apparently never married. He was recorded with his parents in 1850 as Haden age 22, with his brother Richard in 1860 as James H. age 28, with Richard in 1870 as Hayden age 37, and with Richard’s widow Mary Jane in 1880 as Jas. Hayden, age 52, brother-in-law. The 1880 entry had the annotation in the disabiilities column “right arm amputated caused by rheumatism”.
