Rowan Co. birth records, on LDS microfilm #216839, list an unnamed male born Dec 17, 1856 to William B. Cornett & Mary Amburgey.
Morgan County birth records on LDS microfilm #216835 also record birth of an unnamed son born alive on 19 Dec 1856 to William Cornett, mother’s name not recorded, father’s residence “a traveller”, midwife Elizabeth Fannin.
Note, though, that their son Robert’s birth was recorded on Dec 17, 1857. It is possible that William & Mary really did have a son born on Dec 17, 1856 who died young, and also a son Robert born Dec 17, 1857. But it is also possible that the same birth got reported twice, and one of the years is wrong. (These birth records were gathered in January of each year for the entire preceding calendar year, so births in December and January sometimes got reported in the wrong year.)
