The annual report of the county clerk to the Kentucky state auditor for 1878 lists Wm Riddle, born 7 Oct 1878 in Bath Co., father Levi N. Riddle, mother’s maiden name Louisa Mitchell, both born in Bath Co.
His gravestone lists his name as Thomas W. Riddle, and his birthdate as 7 Oct 1879, but the 1880 census lists no son named Thomas or William. It does list a son Levi W. age 2. But the 1900 census lists a son Levi M. age 14 born Jan 1886. It appears that he was originally called Levi, but shortly after toddlerhood they started calling him Thomas instead, and reused the name Levi for their next son.
