Oscar J. (Bruce) Barker, 80, of Brinegar Road, Morehead, died Monday, Sept. 11 [1995] at St. Claire Medical Center. He was born March 4, 1915, in Lawton to the late Lewis Barker and Minnie Belle Jones Barker. He was a retired fencing contractor, was a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Taylor James Barker who died in 1993; three brothers, Earl Barker, Everett Barker and Ora Barker and one sister, Ada Shreiber. Surviving are two sisters, Grace Turnmire of New Port Richey, Fla. and Dorothy Naus of Temecula, Calif.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and a special friend, Wayne Johnson of Morehead. Funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 14 at Lane-Stucky Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Rhodes and the Rev. Bert McBrayer officiating, and special music by the Elliottville Baptist Church Choir, with full military rites conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 at the Lyons Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bill Barker, Junior Carter, Justin Johnson, Don Barker, Curt Pennington and Danny Roe.
