Notes for William Floyd Sexton
William was recorded as age 6 in the 1880 census, but all later records are consistent with a birthdate in 1873.
I cannot find William in the Kentucky death records. He was listed as living in Aug 1918 in his son Albert’s WW I draft registration card, but Amanda was head of household in the 1920 census, and her marital status was given as widowed on her death certificate in 1923.
Notes for Amanda J. Carpenter
Her death certificate records Amanda Sexton, age 49 years 11 months 11 days, born 7 March 1873, died 27 Feb 1923 in Sinking Fork precinct, Elliott Co., Ky, widowed, father Jno Carpenter, mother’s maiden name Polly J. Gearhart, cause of death mitral regeration, informant Albert Sexton, Olive Hill, Ky, burial in Sexton Cemetery.

The given name field looks overwritten. It appears that the census taker may have originally entered William on this line, and then changed it to Manda without altering the gender and marital status. This suggests that William may have been very recently deceased.
