His obituary in the Morehead News reported:
“MOREHEAD – Eugene "Blue" Jones, 69, of Upper Lick Fork Road, Clearfield, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009, after the truck he was in ran off the road and overturned in a creek near his home.
He was born on August 1, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky to Mrs. Lola Gregory Jones and the late Millard Jones.
"Blue” was a retired farmer and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping. He was a member of the Cave Run Chapter of Quail Unlimited and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Bertha Jones Wallace.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Lola Gregory Jones of Clearfield, three brothers, Clarence Jones and his wife, Brenda, Cleo Jones and Glenn Jones all of Morehead, one sister, Letha Cox of Morehead and several loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 27, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Carlos Bowman, Rev. Charles Moore and Rev. Herbert D. Lewis officiating. Burial was in the Jones Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Virgil Brown, Mitch Terrell, Phillip Perkins, Denver Forman, Carl Crose and Johnny Bowman and honorary pallbearers were Anthony Wallace, James Wallace, Randy Cox and Jamie Jones.”
