Rowan Co., Ky annual births report for 1909 lists Mary E. Debord, born 7 Jan 1909, father Sylvester Debord, mother’s maiden name Sarah E. Alfrey.
The “Jan” is very clear on this record, but the census is more consistent with a birthdate in June (she was listed as 10 months old in April 1910), so it may be that the compiler of the annual birth report to the state auditor misread the notes of the midwife or doctor who submitted the original report.
Her death certificate records Mary Elizabeth Debord, age 22 years 7 months 6 days, born 7 June 1909 in Ky, died 15 Jan 1933 at Good Samaritan Hospital, residence Crix, Ky, single, father S. W. Debord, mother’s maiden name Sarah E. Alfrey, both born in Kentucky, cause of death extreme burns body and extremities, accident, explosion of blasting powder in home; informant S. W. Debord, Crix, Ky.
