James is buried under a tall obelisk stone, with inscriptions for his two wives on opposite sides, identifying them as “Haneyetta his first wife” and “Elizabeth A. his second wife”.

Their marriage records gives her surname as McGuire, but the death certificates of several of their children list it as McQuinn. The latter is probably correct, since there was an Alexander McQuinn age 74 living with the family in the 1860 census.

Morgan Co., Ky marriage records list the marriage on 6 Dec 1839 of James Rose and Henrietta McGuire, by Charles Little. (This is from a transcribed index. There may be a transcription error, because other records suggest that Henrietta’s maiden name was McQuinn.)
