His gravestone gives his birthdate as 10 June 1874, but he was listed as age 9 in the 1880 census (with a younger brother David age 6), as age 30 born May 1870 in the 1900 census, and as age 38 in the 1910 census, so his actual birthdate is very likely to be earlier, probably either 1871 or 1872.
