His obituary in the Morehead News of July 2, 1996, read “Earl Kidd, 75, of 70 Eagle Ridge Road, Morehead, died Friday, June 28, [1996] at the St. Claire Medical Center. He was born Aug. 5, 1920 in Rowan County to the late David Kidd and Elizabeth Martt Kidd. He was a retired farmer and sawmill worker. He was of the Baptist faith and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Della C. Kidd and Clella B. Kidd, and one sister, Ruby Lykins. Surviving are his wife, Nola Slusher Kidd of Morehead; two brothers, the Rev. Davis Kidd and Stanley Kidd, both of Morehead. Funeral services were scheduled for Monday, July 1, at the Lane-Stuckey-Gray Funeral Home with the Rev. H.G. Pratt officiating with burial at the Crix Cemetery. Special music by the Rev. H. G. Pratt. Pallbearers: Bill Slusher, Billy Ramey, Emmitt Kidd, Keith Kidd, Alvin Kidd and Tony Moore.”
