His obituary in the Morehead News reported “Vercil “Did” Sloan, age 85, of Quesinberry Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at his residence.
Born October 4, 1924, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry and Bertha Trent Sloan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lornelle Brown Sloan on November 16, 1995; one son, Ricky Lee Sloan; one brother, Curt Sloan; and two sisters, Melly Koffman and Melmie Dillon.
He is survived by four sons, Ronnie David Sloan and Patricia, Donnie Dale Sloan, Mickie Edward Sloan and Carol, Michael Dean Sloan, and the widow of Ricky, Jennifer Sloan; five daughters, Brenda Jean Hunt and Roy Barker, Colleen Kidd and Ed, Vicky Ann Kidd and Alvin, Sharon Kay Trent and Gary, and Teresa Lynn Williams and Forrest; and one sister, Zella Dehart and Cleo, all of Morehead, Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
Mr. Sloan was a logger and of the Christian faith.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ray Glover and Rev. Larry Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery on Rainbow Road.
Pallbearers: J. C. Sloan, Zebulan Clark, Eddie Ellis, Leonard Sloan, Erick Gruss, Forest Williams, and Anthony Jessie.
