“Evadell Alfrey, age 86, resident of Shelby died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in Ontario Commons following a short illness.
Born November 27, 1926 in Shelby to Abraham and Eva (Pennock) Seib, she had been a lifelong Shelby resident. A 1944 graduate of Shelby High School, she worked for the Shelby Telephone Co., and was employed 20 years with Autocall Division retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Alfrey was a member of the First United Church of Christ. Evadell was known to many as "Evie" and, in her younger years, "Boots". Evie loved to keep a spotless home, was very organized and especially enjoyed time with her family. She loved animals, enjoyed reading, keeping a journal and working in her yard.
Survivors include her son, Larry (Laurie) Partee of Shelby; three grandchildren, Eric (Kristin) Partee of Pickerington, Brian (Kayla) Partee of Mentor and Amanda Partee (fianc , Josh Crawford) of Shelby; four great-grandchildren, Tyson, Ian, Morley and Breckin Partee; and other relatives. She considered her daughter-in-law's family, the Brooks, as part of her own, including special friends Charles (Bill) and Alma Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alfrey, Sr., in 1996 and one sister, Betty Young, in 1985.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, May 11, 2013 from the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Bob Flint will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial expressions may be made to The First United Church of Christ.”
