His gravestone says Father John D. Riddle 1871 - 1933.
The 1900 census also gave his birthdate as July 1871. I think it is rather more likely that he was born in July 1870, since the 1880 census listed him as age 10 and his sister Ada as age 8.

Her mother’s obituary reported her name as Effie Jane Williams, wife of John D. Riddle, but all other records show her middle initial as B.
Her gravestone, matching John’s, says Mother Effie B. Riddle, 1877 - 1950.
Her death certificate says Effie B. Riddle, age 73, born 16 Jan 1877 in Champaign Co., Illinois, died 10 July 1950 at home in Decatur, Macon Co., Illinios, residence 995 W. Harrison Ave., widowed, father W. F. Williams, mother’s maiden name unknown, cause of death arterio sclerotic heart disease due to acute coronary thrombosis, informant Walter R. Riddle, burial in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, Illinois.
(The coroner who signed the certificate is named Robert H. Downing. I wonder if he is a relative?)
The reported birthplace is inconsistent with most census records, which list her birthplace as Texas in 1880, 1900, 1920 and 1930. (The 1910 census says Illinois.)

It is odd that it says Effie is the mother of 3 living children and that this is her first marriage, but only one child is listed. From the 1920 census, there should be Mabel age 9 and Harry age 7.
