His obituary in the Fresno Bee Republican of 29 March 1964 reported “Funeral services for Emmet E. Downing, 88, of Del Rey will be held at 12:30 pm tomorrow in the Tinkler Mission Chapel.
Downing, an area resident for about 50 years, died Friday night in an Auberry resthome after a long illness. He was a native of Warrensburg, Mo. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Eva Tockey of Fresno, and a brother, Lee Downing of Warrensburg. Interment will be in Belmont Memorial Park.”
