Notes for Lynn Boyd Wells
Morgan Co., Ky birth records list Lyn Boyd Wells, born 7 Sep 1856, father Richard F. Wells, mother’s maiden name Emily Cox.
Notes for Abdelcader “Cade” Duvall
Sources vary on whether her given name was Abdelcader or Adbelcader, with most people’s databases using the latter spelling. But I know of no other person or place named Adbelcader, whereas Abdel Cader or Abdel Kader are common English spellings of Abd al-Qadir (1808-1883), the Algerian national hero and Sufi scholar. His story was well known in America in the mid-1800’s, and he was honored by Abraham Lincoln. According to Wikipedia: “An indication of the international fame of al-Qādir's struggle is given by the way that the town of Elkader, Iowa in the United States came to be named after him. When the new community was being officially planned, on what was then the American frontier, founders Timothy Davis, John Thompson and Chester Sage—none of them Arabs or Muslims—were so impressed with what they heard of the Algerian leader's valiant struggle that they decided to name the new town for him.” Apparently a farmer from the hills of Kentucky also named a daughter after him, and then called her Cade.
Notes for Lynn Boyd & Abdelcader “Cade” (Family)
Date and place of death for Lynn and Cade are from various online family trees at Ancestry.com. Neither Lynn nor Cade appear in the Kentucky death records, though. So I suspect that the source of these dates are cemetery records, and that they really died in another state, perhaps at the home of some child, and were returned to Elliott Co. for burial.
