Notes for William Henry Griffey
His death certificate, a delayed filing on 6 June 1934, states Henry Griffey, age 66, born 22 March 1887, died 15 Aug 1932 (note the large discrepancy between reported date of birth and age at death - an age of 66 in Aug 1932 would imply a birthdate between Aug 1865 and Aug 1866), married, wife Eva Griffey, father Harve Griffey (presumably a misremembrance of Harm, which is how Hiram is pronounced in Kentucky), mother Mary Fox, cause of death “the physician in attendance is dead, said to have been pneumonia”, informant Calvin Griffey, Frenchburg, Ky.

He was listed in the1870 census as Henry Griffee age 3, in the 1880 census as William Griffee age 12, in the 1900 census as Henry Griffin age 32, in the 1910 census as Henry Griffith age 42, in 1916 as Henry Griffey on his wife Elizabeth’s and son James’ death certificates, in the 1920 census as Henry Griffee age 51, and in the 1930 census as William H.
